Signal from Elsewhere

To you, beside the receiver,

Welcome to the Storm Post Office. This one dresses as scientific mail: pale gray paper, a teal screen-printed orbital chart, a headline in stretched monospaced letters like a signal line pulled straight. There are typewritten annotations, a burgundy punch-card strip and a metallic-blue paper tab. It carries the air of research archives from a few decades back, and no year is written on it.

Pascal looked up at the night and wrote an unsettled sentence: "The endless silence of those boundless spaces frightens me." — Blaise Pascal, Pensées (1670)

We prefer to think that every letter is a small answer to that silence. If a signal reaches you from elsewhere, do not rush to reply. Listen first; when the rain has dropped into the background, write.

May the signal be clear,

Storm Post Office

P.S. The holes on the punch-card strip are decoration only. Nothing needs decoding.
