Beyond the Horizon
To you, looking toward the horizon,
Welcome to the Storm Post Office. This is a blue-gray fibrous envelope with its title in an airy, open engraved Roman serif. In the cream lithograph, cloud and coast run together in one line, beside a sea-green compass diagram and several linked transit stamps, none of them dated. A small copper corner catches the light. The sky is open, with only a little hopeful shine in it.
At the end of a long experiment, someone left this conclusion: "I learned this, at least, by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours." — Henry David Thoreau, Walden (1854)
The horizon is a word that keeps stepping back, so you are always on the road, and that is no bad thing. When you are tired, read a letter; when you feel like writing, write one. The postmarks will link them.
On the road with you,
Storm Post Office
